I wrote “That Was Then” after studying the Bubonic Plague also known as the Black Death in my history class at Oracle Charter high school. This virus wiped out almost 50% of the population worldwide. Once you contracted the virus you would probably have a week or less to live, and there were painful symptoms.
I trusted him. I trusted him a lot. He was my everything. He knew he was my everything. He made me feel safe, like nothing could go wrong and nothing bad could ever happen to me.
Stereotyping is not an isolated incident. Our students face this reality often. Many in our community, and the area at large, perceive that our young men and women can’t succeed in school because of the dysfunction of urban school districts.
I came in to the office this morning, and there was water in the coffee maker. It started
my day with a grateful smile. I realized that there has been water in the coffee maker for
the last couple of months, thank-you.
If you or someone you know is suicidal there are ways to get help for your issues. The idea is to assure that “you are not alone.” There are people who can help you, such as your school counselor, a parent, a loved one, or a trusted adult.
One career I am interested in is to be a veterinarian.
